Pacific Wants You!

We’re Recruiting!

Contact recruiting@pacificrollerderby.com if you're interested in becoming a skater or referee. Please read on to learn more about New Skater Training, Derby Middle School & a few Rookie recommendations.

No experience is needed to learn to play!

Our goal is to teach you to become a safe and confident skater with the ability to play or referee Womans Flat Track Roller Derby. We will instruct you to the best of our ability at Pacific's New Skater Trainings, but ultimately it’s up to you to put it all into practice. Our philosophy is that with hard work and dedication you can accomplish anything on the flat track.

New Skater Training

We hold ongoing training for New Skaters and potential Referees, aged 18 and up, during our November thru January off-season every Tuesday and Saturday in both Mililani and Hawaii Kai. The program is designed to train you safely from the wheels up, with no previous experience necessary. Trainings include off skate components that work along side and aid  the on- skate skills components for beginner and intermediate levels.  Participants are lead by a select group of Skate Trainers. This portion of training is for basic derby skill building only. Understanding equipment, safety, rules, derby basics. This is a free training offered by Pacific Roller Derby and limited loaner gear/ skates are available at practice locations.

Currently there is no minimum or maximum amount of time you are required to attend our New Skater Training.  Participants are welcome to take their minimum skills test upon request at anytime before, during or after New Skater Training to join the league. Otherwise, Pacific will be holding 2 official Minimum Skills Tests/ Home Team Try Outs a Season. Check back on the website for those announcements!

Passing the WFTDA minimum skills test is required to join Pacific Roller Derby as a derby skater.

Derby Middle School

Passed your minimum skills? Joined the League? Then Welcome to Derby Middle School! Here is where you will fine tune those basic skills and general game know-how. Made up of Fresh Meat and lead by Pacific Coaches, this group focuses on developing skills, strategy and technique.

Derby Middle School takes place weekly every Tuesday at the Mililani Track location.
